Welcome 2022!

So here we are, already in 2022!

It’s been a strange start to the year with the festive season made hopeful by travel around the country to reunite with loved ones, but also the ongoing challenge of increasing COVID numbers causing concern not only in larger metropolitan areas but also in our rural towns and communities.

Students heading in to their school year this year will be looking forward to spending time with their friends and family, relaxing and recharging ahead of what we can hope will be a positive and rewarding year for everyone.

For students and young people who are still considering their career choices ahead of their senior years of schooling, we’re looking forward to providing some great opportunities to connect with new ideas and new thinking.

In February, Project Ready kicks off in Warrnambool and Colac, with classes in both locations connecting young people with volunteering opportunities and providing a Certificate II in Active Volunteering.

In March, we’ll be presenting the Creative Industries Forum, aimed at increasing the connections between schools and the employers in the creative industries.

In April, Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio will be in the region presenting a master class on electronic music for aspiring musicians, sound designers and music industry enthusiasts.

In Term 2 we’re excited to be delivering Passport 2 Employment in Colac, a great program created by Glenelg Southern Grampians LLEN which emphasises the transition knowledge and skills needed for young people to thrive post school.

We’re also exploring our connections with future agriculture careers, childcare and early years, and creating links with local employers in the Cobden and Terang areas to support school-based activities which will foster student’s engagement with schools and local industry.

And along the way we’ll continue to work with schools, students and communities to create links in Work Experience, Structured Workplace Learning and School Based Apprenticeships.

We’re wishing all students, teachers and their families a restful January, and can’t wait to see you back on deck in a few weeks’ time.
